A Crown of Brittle Glass

Prince Jarek was born to inherit Nidavellir. Instead he has spent his life in taverns, gambling dens, and other people’s beds.

Days before the old king dies, he takes Jarek beneath the mountain and reveals the secret nine generations of kings have kept buried. Jarek runs, drinks himself senseless, and wakes on New Year’s morning accused of murder.

His brother has seized the regency. The Dragon Crown is missing. And the only person assigned to keep Jarek alive is a sworn protector who would rather see him fail.

As sparkstone engines transform Drottkvangar, the poor starve, wealthy guilds circle the throne, and a factory owner is raising an army in the streets. Hunted through a kingdom already coming apart, Jarek must uncover why his father died before his brother turns a stolen throne into a permanent reign.

Because something waits beneath the mountain.

It knows Jarek’s name.
